From the desk of Sharda Baker.

A lot of you requested this certain dog food brand for me to review so we will be talking about TASTE OF THE WILD in today’s healthy pet food review.

So, sit back, relax and let’s find out if the TASTE OF WILD is really worthy of its fame.

Again before we start, let me just mention that this dog food brand review was not created for the intention of selling the dog food brands that I will be mentioning today and in the future.

The whole purpose of this dog food review to help you decide which dog food you should be feeding your dog. I will also be rating the dog food brands from 1 – 10, 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest.

So now, let’s start!

TASTE OF THE WILD DRY DOG FOOD REVIEW

A LITTLE SOMETHING ABOUT TASTE OF THE WILD

Taste of the wild dog food is actually manufactured and created in the USA and the idea of this certain dog food is to provide dogs with a no grain dog food that contains meat that is free from antibiotics and hormones.

Taste of the wild want to provide an all natural dog food that contains no chemical preservatives that are suitable for all breeds of dogs regardless size and age.

I’m also happy to say that this certain dog food has NEVER been recalled yet.

But does the ingredients they use measure up with what they’re saying?

TASTE OF THE WILD DOGFOOD – INGREDIENTS

Taste of the Wild dog food contains the following ingredients; This certain dog food brand contains duck, duck meal, chicken meal, egg product, sweet potatoes, peas, chicken fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols), potatoes, roasted quail, roasted duck, smoked turkey, natural flavor, tomato pomace, ocean fish meal.

Again let me mention that the dog food ingredients list is actually quite long so I only got the ingredients that really mattered. Don’t worry though because the things that I left out are the vitamins and minerals that you can actually get from these ingredients.

Always remember to focus on the raw ingredients itself and not be drawn in by the vitamins and minerals that are jammed in the label.

TASTE OF THE WILD DOG FOOD – THE GOOD

Let’s start with the first ingredient on the list which are duck and duck meal, as I have mentioned before it is always a good sign if the dog food put specific ingredients in their label like this be wary of dog food brands that are not specific on the type of meat that they’re using.

Actually, duck is a quality ingredient in dog food and it contains about 80% of water that being said when the duck is actually cooked it reduces to only 20% of its actual weight which brings us to the second and third ingredient which is duck meal and chicken meal which is the more dominant ingredient in this dog food brand.

Duck, chicken and other poultry meals like this are actually considered as meal concentrates which is a good thing because they contain MORE protein compared to the actual fresh poultry ingredient.

The next ingredient on the list is egg products. Well, eggs are easily digestible but the quality of the egg that is used for the dog food can be questionable. We now proceed to sweet potatoes, peas and chicken fat. Sweet potatoes and peas are actually a good source of carbohydrates, beta carotene and natural fiber.

Natural fiber is good for your dog’s digestion. Chicken fat, although this may sound a bit unhealthy, this ingredient actually contains high amounts of linoleic acid which is an omega-6 acid which is good for your dog’s coat and skin.

Another good thing to note about this certain dog food is that they included some probiotics which helps enhance the dog’s digestive and immune system.

TASTE OF THE WILD DOG FOOD – THE BAD

One of the controversial ingredients in the list is the presence of tomato pomace. Although this ingredient is high in fiber and nutrition content the problem lies with how and where these tomatoes came from.

These are tomato farms out there that spray their produce with pesticides and there are some tomatoes that still contains this pesticide even before processing.

Another questionable ingredient in the list is the ocean meal. As I have mentioned before it is always questionable if your dog food brand is not being specific with that certain ingredient.

TATE OF THE WILD – THE VERDICT

Although this dog food contains some questionable ingredients such as tomato pomance and ocean meal, I still believe that the good outweighs the bad in this review.

As, I have mentioned before this certain dog food has never once been recalled so I take this as a good sign of the companies integrity to what they want to deliver.

I have also read some good comments about this dog food from other dog owners so I think that this dog food brand should be given the rating of 8.5 out of 10.

I hope that you found this healthy dog food review helpful.

All the best and take care

Warmly,
