Alarm bells first started ringing for me regarding dog food, several years ago, after seeing the pain an acquaintance, Sonia (not her real name) went through after losing her 2 dogs, one aged eight and one six and a half.

Took him to the vet the next day and she said he was fine–but he wasn't–something was wrong and after a few days he was fine—needless to say, we now have a new Vet also!

We all need it. Also, several years ago, a horse trainer named John Lyons put out a monthly magazine with NO paid advertising. He regularly reviewed products…..certainly ticking off some manufacturers.

I am in the UK and have a Mini Schnauzer. Your Dog Food Food Report was very interesting to read.

He is almost 2 and he is fed James Wellbeloved dry food together with either Nature Diet or Nature's Harvest.

I have noticed that almost all wet dog food has the same nutritional content: 7-11% protein, 8-10% fat and 40-50% carbs.

I'm also very interested in your take about dog food. We recently lost our 5 yr old dog.

The Vet said he's seen many cases such as hers from a certain type food that uses so much dye and her sugar had gone way up.

My husband had just changed to this dog food. It did not affect our other dog also 5 yrs, but the other only lived one day after leaving her at our vets overnight. He said she was very toxic also.

All of this from a dog food. Now we have a 3 month old old puppy and and want to keep her and 5 yr old Chihuahua healthy.
