Hi JT,
My experience with Bostons is that they are easy to care for and train. Dobby is 7 months old today, Sept. 11. He is completely house broken. He can be left in the house all day while I'm at work and doesn't bother anything. He doesn't chew, bark a lot or go in the house. He has gone camping with us, stayed in a hotel and goes kayaking. He is an all around good dog. He has completed puppy kindergarten and is getting ready to start intermediate obedience next week. I am hoping to use him as a therapy dog and visit hospitals and nursing homes. He seems to love everyone and is very calm in most all situations. I haven't really seen him upset at anything.
As for grooming, it takes very little to keep him clean, looking and smelling good. I just wipe his face and clean his eyes every evening. I clean his ears and bath him once a month. A little brushing with a soft brush keeps his coat clean and shiny. He doesn't shed very much. The only thing is that you have to keep them on the same food once you find the right one for them. If you don't you will have a dog with a lot of gas. That is the only thing I have found with them. Right now I can't say enough good about the Boston Terrier. He seems to be the perfect dog.
Just take your time and find a good breeder and take the time to observe the puppies. I took the time to sit and watch them play. Some of the pups seemed just a little hyper and one was very shy. I didn't want either of these extremes. It pays to take your time no matter what breed you get.
Good luck in getting another dog. Let me know if you get one.

Ps. I have posted several pictures of Dobby by himself and with my 4 year old grandson.
